A Cheerful Giver
2 Corinthians 9:7
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Christmas time is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We need to remember that Jesus gave up a lot to come down to save us. He was a king in heaven, but he came to us as a human, in a humble way. He could’ve been born into a rich, noble family; in a nice home with a comfortable bed, but he wasn’t born into a rich family. Instead, his earthly father was a carpenter. Jesus didn’t even have a crib or a bed to sleep on; he lay in a manger with animals!
When Jesus was born, gifts from the wise men were given to him. But Jesus has given us the greatest gift of all, eternal life. Because he stepped down from heaven, we have hope.
During this Christmas season, we should give, not because we need to, but because we want to. We need to give with a cheerful heart.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for sending Jesus to earth. Please help me to give with a cheerful heart.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
